Eurythoe laevisetis moves by contracting and relaxing certain muscles so that a wave is propagated down the body causing the worm to shift in an ‘s’ shape during forward walking and parapodial stepping. Paddle like parapodia along the side of the worm assist with movement. The parapodial movements are coordinated with the ‘s’ waves. Just before movements begin neuropodial chaetae of many parapodia along the worms’ body retract and protract (Lawry 1970).
